The Bridge of Weir Choral Society comprises a group of diverse people who join together to share
the joy of making music. The Choir has members of all age groups and abilities who live in and around the
Gryffe Valley of Renfrewshire. This comprises the towns and villages of Bridge of Weir, Kilmacolm, Linwood,
Howwood, Kilbarchan, Lochwinnoch, Houston, Johnstone, Quarriers Village and extending to Greenock and Paisley.
![]() The Choir has at least two Public Concerts a year, a traditional Christmas Concert in St Columba Church, Kilmacolm and a main concert in March / April. The Choir sings with professional soloists or singers from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. The music sung includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Bruckner, Byrd, Copland, Duruflé, Dvorak, Fauré, Handel, Haydn, Ireland, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Parry, Pergolesi, Poulenc, Purcell, Rossini, Rutter, Schubert, Sibelius, Stainer, Sumsion, Vivaldi as well as pieces by Gilbert and Sullivan. To join our merry band no audition is necessary and we rehearse on Tuesdays from 7.30pm to 9.45pm in the Hall of St Columba Church, Kilmacolm. We restart our rehearsals on Tuesday September 9th. The singing subscription is currently £40.00 per year with £30 for concessions. |
